Recently I was shopping at the grocery store and they had a great deal on a bag of sweet potatoes. so obviously I had to find a solution for using them all. These grilled sweet potatoes done right on the BBQ are my new favorite way of eating sweet potatoes.
These are so easy to do and you can customize them however you like with different seasoning combinations.
Ingredients you will need to make grilled sweet potatoes
- 1 sweet potato or more if you are serving more people
- Olive oil
- Salt
- Pepper
- Dill
- Oregano
- Garlic
- Any seasonings you wish to use will work. Be creative and do what you like.
How to make grilled sweet potatoes
1. Clean and slice the potatoes
Wash potatoes using a scrubber under cold water very thoroughly
slice potatoes into ½ inch thick disks
2. Add oil and Seasonings.
brush olive oil on each slice if you would rather use coconut oil or any oil that fits your dietary needs make sure it wont smoke too much on a BBQ.
sprinkle with seasonings (add more or less depending on what you like)
3. Grill
on a preheated BBQ grill over a medium flame place each disk on the grill
cook for about 5 minutes then turn over allow the potato to get grill marks.
keep cooking for a total of about 10 min. they are done when the potato feels soft like a french-fry.
Halfway through cooking each side make sure to turn (not flip) each piece of potato 90 degrees to create a cross-hatch. The extra char on the potato will bring more flavour.
