Homemade hamburgers are one thing I have been making for my family to help budget our grocery list. spending anywhere from $8 to $20 on a box of frozen hamburger patties is not uncommon these days especially in the summer months.

when firing up my BBQ I would much rather make my hamburgers from scratch. this ensures I know exactly what is going into my hamburger patty and I also save a ton of money in the process.

I also find the frozen store-bought patties often are very tasteless. I add a ton of seasoning and limit the fillers leaving you with a delicious and less carb-filled patty.

Ingredients you will need

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 lb ground pork chuck
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 tbsp horseradish
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp onion flakes
  • ½ tbsp garlic salt
  • ½ tbsp dried chives
  • ½ tbsp parsley flakes
  • 2 tsp dill weed
  • 2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 8 peices marble or cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup panko breadcrumbs

How to make Cheddar Stuffed Hamburgers

  1. add pork and beef to a large mixing bowl along with all remaining ingredients except for the cheese.
  2. get your clean hands in there and squish and mix all the ingredients together until it is all 1 cohesive mixture.
  3. divide the patty mix into 8 equal amounts and begin by forming them into balls.
  4. take 1 piece of cheese and press it into the middle of the patty. bring the meat around the cheese making sure it is not visible anywhere through the meat patty and flatten into a burger shape.
  5. chill patties in the fridge for at least 1 hour before cooking on the BBQ. you will have some cheese leak out so try not to flip your burgers too much while cooking. grilling on a Blackstone is also a good method of cooking.
  6. place burgers on a bun (homemade is always best) and top with desired toppings.
