This chocolate banana bread is a great alternative to your regular run-of-the-mill banana bread. we all love a loaf of good banana bread but this recipe just elevates it to the next level.

My family goes in and out of love with bananas. some weeks I can buy a bunch and they are gone within days, other weeks they sit in our fruit bowl and no one will go anywhere near them.

That’s why I love having a few banana recipes on hand. With the price of food these days I can’t imagine throwing away perfectly good bananas. when you can make something delicious with them.

Ingredients you will need

  • 3-4 med ripe bananas
  • ⅓ cup melted butter
  • 1 egg
  • ⅓ cup milk
  • ⅓ cup sugar
  • 1 tsp coconut extract
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1½ cup flour
  • ⅓ cup cocoa powder
  • ½ cup chocolate chips

How to make Chocolate Banana Bread

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°f. and prepare a loaf pan with cooking spray.
  2. Peel and mash the bananas in a large bowl.
  3. Stir in the melted butter, egg, milk, cocoa powder, and coconut extract.
  4. Add flour, baking soda, and salt. do not over mix only fold until fully combined.
  5. fold in chocolate chips.
  6. Bake for 1 hour in the oven or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Allow cooling completely before removing from pan and serving.
