Making these fudgy buttermilk brownies is a must. they are sweet and chewy and the perfect way to end a long day (or start on)
recently there was a trend on TikTok where everyone was making their own butter using heavy cream which leaves you with a jar full of buttermilk also.
Ingredients you will need to make fudgy buttermilk brownies
- Butter
- Cocoa powder
- Vegetable oil
- Sugar
- Eggs
- Buttermilk
- Vanilla
- Flour
- Baking soda
- Salt
- Chocolate chips
- Icing sugar
How to make fudgy Buttermilk Brownies
1. Prepare
pre heat oven to 450℉
line a 9×13 inch baking pan with parchment paper
2. Melt Ingredients
in a small pot add butter, cocoa powder and oil, melt butter and bring to a slight boil stirring occasionally. remove from heat and set aside.
3. Combine wet ingredients
in a large bowl add sugar, eggs and buttermilk and vanilla. using a whisk stir until fully combined.
while stirring slowly pour in the cocoa mixture. do not add too fast or stop stirring or you might cook the eggs and not have everything combined properly.
4. add dry ingredients
add flour, baking soda and salt then stir until fully combined.
pour into prepared pan then sprinkle with chocolate chips
5. Bake
bake for 20- 25 minutes until cooked through the center and a toothpick can come out clean.
6. Make the icing
while the brownies are cooling, add butter, buttermilk and cocoa powder to a small pot, melt on the stove, and bring to a slight boil, stirring occasionally. it will separate and look a bit chunky since the milk and butter will not want to mix. That is ok!
in the bowl of a stand mixer with the whisk attachment add your icing sugar and turn it on to a slow speed.
slowly pour in the cocoa mixture and continue to stir slowly until it is all combined. You may have to scrape the sides down once or twice.
once all combined bring up the speed and whip until the icing has become lighter in colour and a bit ore fluffy. it will be runny, not firm.
7. Ice the fudgy buttermilk brownies
pour over brownies, the brownies do not need to be fully cooled for this. spread the icing out evenly over the top of the brownies.
8. chill
allow the brownies to cool on the counter until they are no longer warm cover and allow them to set in the fridge for about 1 hour.
cut, serve ad enjoy.
