No Bake Chocolate Oat Squares

Summer time is exactly the right time to be making your sweets without all the heat from the oven. Which is why you need to try these no bake chocolate oat squares.

These squares are sweet with the brown sugar oat base and a delicious creamy filling. It is so smooth and creamy made from peanut butter and chocolate chips.

Ingredients you need to make no bake chocolate oat squares.

  • Butter
  • Brown sugar
  • Vanilla extract
  • Rolled oats
  • Semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • Peanut butter

How to make no bake chocolate oatmeal bars

1. Melt butter

add butter and brown sugar to a medium-sized pot, and melt over medium heat until the brown sugar has all dissolved.

allow to simmer on a low heat for 3-5 min.

2. Add vanilla and oats

add vanilla and stir the vanilla will sizzle and steam real quick. the heat will burn off the vanilla so be sure that you stir quickly and have it over very low heat.

add oats and fold in until everything is well combined, keep it over low heat to make combining a lot easier.

3. prepare pan

line an 8×8 baking pan with parchment paper, if you are having a hard time making the paper fit you can crumple it up into a ball then flatten it before pressing into the pan.

4. begin layering

add half the oat mixture to the pan, and spread evenly, do not pack down tightly. gently spread but do not pack down. The more you pack the tougher your bar will be.

5. Melt chocolate layer

add chocolate chips and peanut butter to a microwave-safe bowl and place in the microwave for 30 seconds at a time, stirring in between until everything is melted and smooth. stir frequently so you don’t burn the chocolate.

5. Add middle layer

Pour the mixture over the oat base in the pan saving a small amount for drizzling on top. Pour as evenly as possible so that you don’t have to spread it too much once its already there. you don’t want to move the bottom layer around too much.

6. add final layer

add the remaining amount of oat mixture to the top, and drop evenly over the whole square trying not to move too much of the chocolate layer.

do not pack down, only lightly spread to fill in all gaps

7. Drizzle for garnish and extra flavor

using a spoon drizzle remaining amount of chocolate mixture over the top to add a little pizzaz

8. Chill

cover and refrigerate for 2-3 hours or over night.

allow the squares to sit for 10 min or so on the counter before slicing as the bars can be quite hard when cold.

slice with a sharp knife into 9 squares (3×3) or 16 (4×4) depending on the desired size. store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 1 week.
