to a small sauce pan add the cranberries, sugar, brown sugar and water.
make sure you wash your orange before zesting it and adding it to your pot
roll the orange on the counter under the pressure of your hand to release the juice then cut in half and squeeze all the juice you can into the pot.
stir everything together
place the pot on the stove over medium heat and bring to a boil remembering to stir occasionally
continue to boil until the cranberries split.
add the cinnamon stick
reduce to a low simmer until the liquid begins to thicken ( about 6 minutes)
place in a bowl and allow to cool before serving.
Notes
you can make this the day before the big dinner or the day of. if you are making it the day before make sure you allow it to cool completely then cover it well and place it in the fridge over night.
