Tuna Noodle Casserole

Feed the whole family with this classic dish when your looking for great flavor on a budget

Equipment

  • 1 9x12 baking dish
  • 2 large pot

Ingredients
  

  • ¼ cup butter
  • ¼ cup flour
  • 4 cup milk
  • ½ tbsp smoked paprika
  • ½ tbsp dill
  • 1 tsp thyme leaves
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tbsp parsley flakes
  • cup frozen mixed vegetables
  • 2 can tuna
  • 5 cup fusilli pasta noodles can also use egg noodles

Topping

  • ½ cup crushed corn flakes
  • ½ cup crushed fish crackers
  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp pepper
  • 1 tsp dried parsley flakes
  • 1 tsp dried chives

Instructions
 

  • boil salted water then cook fusilli pasta till al dente, drain then rinse with cold water and set aside.
  • to a medium-sized pot over medium heat add butter and allow to melt
  • add flour and stir with a whisk constantly, cook flour and butter mixture until it begins to brown slightly
  • add milk and stir continuously so it does not burn until you can see the mixture begin to thicken.
  • add seasonings, tuna, mixed vegetables and pasta
  • fold all ingredients together then pour into a greased 12x9 inch baking dish
  • set aside and prepare the topping.
  • pre heat oven to 350℉
  • Melt butter and mix everything listed under "topping ingredients"
  • sprinkle over top of the casserole
  • bake in pre heated oven for 30 minutes or until the topping is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
  • allow to cool a bit before serving.

Notes

for added flavor, you can top the casserole with grated cheese before you add the topping.
